Tamworth Pigs are a beautiful rare breed thought to be England’s oldest pure bred pig. They have a long snout and long bristly gingery or golden to reddish brown hair.
Originating in the Midlands town of Tamworth with probable influence from Irish Grazer pigs. They are also known as Tams and Sandy Backs. They are resilient in colder climates thanks to their thick bristly coats which also keep them safe from sunburn.
I believe we have a great responsibility to these beautiful animals, no matter what your opinions on domestication it is undeniably fascinating, we have made these pigs what they are today and they deserve our love and respect.
