Celebrate the wonder and diversity of pigs with this handdrawn coloured pencil caricature.
British Lop Pigs are a large, gentle, pale and rare pig breed named for their large lopping ears. They use to be called The Long White National Lop-eared pig, but that was a bit of a mouthful, so it was changed to just British Lop in the late 1960’s. They can also be known as the Cornish lop due to their probable south west and West Country origins.
They are long, lean, sturdy and good foragers and can be bred outdoors.
I believe we have a great responsibility to these beautiful animals, no matter what your opinions on domestication it is undeniably fascinating, we have made these pigs what they are today and they deserve our love and respect.
The image is handdrawn by me then printed in Leeds on 200gsm 100% recycled paper with a lovely lightly flecked finish.
